Happy Mommy!

We kicked off Mother's Day weekend on Thursday when Jack came home from school with this plant.
When Travis came home, he snuck Jack outside then they both came back in carrying flowers that they were going to plant outside for me this weekend. Jack said "Happy Mommy!". Travis tried to teach him to say "Happy Mother's Day!", but that's as good as it got and I think it's pretty precious and pretty true because I am one happy mommy! We took Jack to church this morning where he participated in his first communion. Travis went down front to get the cups of grape juice and crackers and when he walked back up Jack exclaimed in all the silence "Daddy!" like he hadn't seen him in forever. We have to get this kid to the children's center! After Jack's nap we decided to make the best of the rain. For Easter, Jack got rainboots from my grandparents and a matching raincoat from my parents. When leaving church he was kicking around the puddles in his good shoes, so I thought today was the day to bring out the boots! Here he is all decked out!

With all of Daddy's digging, he of course found a worm that Jack enjoyed watching.

When the planting was done, despite all the rain, the water hose came out to clean up the mess. Jack LOVES the water hose! In fact, I spent one afternoon this week running from the stream as he chased me through the backyard.

Here are the boys watering my new flowers. Any time Travis would have the hose, Jack would yell "My turn!".

Finally, Jack got to enjoy the real fun of the rubber boots. He splashed around forever saying "Boots! Boots! Boots!"

Jack is getting to be so much fun and so challenging! He's talking up a storm now, putting so many words into sentences. Often he'll say something and the two of us will sit there puzzled until we realize he just combined a whole sentence into one word. Just now he was eating strawberries and said "Maxwansome?" (Max, want some?). Of course, with all this chatter comes a ton of demands. Most days I don't even get backed out of the garage before he says "Mommy, juice! Mommy, tb (tv)! Mommy, eat!". Everything is "mine" or "Jack's". Last night on our way home from supper he saw a flooded field and said "My pond!". "More" is also a big word. If we see horses on the way to school, he'll yell "Mommy, more neighs!". This morning in church he ate some fruit chews and when he finished he said "Mommy, more eat!". Bath isn't as popular of a time to him as it once was. He now enjoys his after bath routine of sitting on our bed and watching "big mean sharks" or "beers" (bears). Animal Planet stays on at our house as much as Noggin and Nickelodeon. Despite the continuous demands, life as a mother is better than ever. It's hard to imagine a better life than this.
