Our colds progressed throughout Christmas week and the weekend after until Jack ran fever on Sunday and Marshall got so bad Sunday night that I slept in a chair holding him upright because he kept choking on the congestion. Jack's fever did break before bed on Sunday and by Monday morning, he was tons better, but his 30-month appointment was already scheduled for Monday afternoon, so I decided to get both boys checked out. The doctor said Jack looked great, but since he ran fever on Sunday and had the congestion, he couldn't get the one shot he needed and he prescribed him some medicine just in case it got worse again. He definitely hit a growth spurt since turning 2. In June, he was 35 3/4 inches tall and 33.7 pounds. On Monday, he was 37 3/4 inches tall and 36.3 pounds. His height has him in the 75th-90th percentile and his weight has him in the 90th percentile. Once he receives this one shot he missed, he doesn't have to have anymore until he goes to school. That sounds so far away, but it's only in 2 1/2 more years! Where does the time go?
Poor Marshall was pitiful by the time the appointment rolled around. The doctor prescribed him some medicine to help with the congestion and while he is better now on Thursday, it's all relatively speaking. He's still bad and still getting choked, but he is sleeping in his bassinet again and I'm finally getting some rest. This little guy is also continuing to grow at a rapid rate. They didn't measure his length, but he was 11 pounds 7 ounces putting him in the 75th percentile. A little less than 3 weeks ago at his 2-week appointment, he was 8 pounds 12 ounces, so he's just about gaining a pound a week.
Both boys will return to the doctor in late January for Marshall's 2-month appointment and Jack's shot.
