Easter Egg Hunt

We decided to stay in Memphis for Easter weekend and start a holiday tradition of our own. On Saturday, the church where Jack goes to school (St. Paul United Methodist) had an egg hunt with a petting zoo, arts and crafts, etc. and of course, the Easter Bunny. Jack would go nowhere near the big bunny.

Craig and Kate joined us.

It wasn't hard to figure out what would be Jack's favorite part of the afternoon - the petting zoo. There were 3 bunnies - 2 babies and an adult. You could hold the babies, but the adult wouldn't come out of its cage. Jack liked the adult and patiently waited for it to come out.

Here's Craig helping Kate hold a baby duck. Jack didn't want anything to do with holding the animals at first...

but then he warmed up to the idea and held a baby duck...

and a baby bunny.

Next up was the Easter Egg Hunt. Here's Jack deciding on the best strategy to hold his basket, so both hands would be free to get all the eggs!

Fortunately, his class had their Easter Egg Hunt on Thursday, so he had an idea of what to do.

We had to encourage him to keep hunting though because each egg he would find he would stop and open it to see what prize was inside.

I was just seconds too late to get a shot of Kate and Jack hugging each other goodbye. They are definitely going to be great friends! Actually, they have no other choice! Easter is another holiday we usually spend with the Jostes family.

Jack LOVES horses, neighs as he calls them. My grandfather has a horse and although Jack loves to look at her, he wouldn't think of petting her. I was afraid of the same reaction when we stood in line for him to ride the horse and I was right. This is as close as he got.

Jack grabbed the basket of goods, put it in his lap and dug in on the way home.
