After the parade and long naps, Sissy came home from work and we headed back to the fairgrounds to take the boys to the carnival as promised. From the very first ride, it was clear that Marshall was not going to be left out. Jack chose the big slide/obstacle course and as he walked up the steps to begin the course, Marshall quickly followed behind him crying. So Mom handed over tickets for Marshall and me as well and I proceeded to tote him up a rope wall, over bridges, through tunnels until we slid down right after Jack. You can imagine how we blew through tickets with all three of us having to ride everything. The picture below is of the boys on the only ride they rode by themselves.
There were some rides Marshall and I couldn't ride and he absolutely broke my heart the first time he saw Jack get on a ride and realized we wouldn't be going with him. He held out his arms, cried and yelled "Bubba!" over and over. Yes, he's now calling Jack "Bubba" on a pretty regular basis. Travis and Jack both hated it at first, but now they've both accepted it and if you ask me, it's pretty precious. I did find this one ride that Jack classified as a baby ride for Marshall to ride by himself while Jack rode one of the bigger rides. He hated every minute of it.
The boys were thrilled to see Carl Ross and GG at my parents' house when we returned home. This scene was too priceless not to capture, but I need to set it up for you. Marshall was a sticky, stinky mess. He was eating a Blow Pop and had it all over him and he had dirtied his diaper, but when he went up to Granddaddy with his arms in the air and said "Up", Granddaddy couldn't resist.
