Jack is on a new soccer team this fall and they have named themselves the Sharks. The reason behind this name didn't dawn on me until today. At the end of every practice, they name one kid the shark and all the others are minnows. All the minnows have balls, but the shark does not and the shark is trying to take balls from as many minnows as possible. Any minnow that loses a ball turns into a shark. Today before the game the coach told them "Today you are all sharks. Now go get those minnows!" Pretty good coaching to a bunch of preschoolers. And here are the Sharks with coaches Blake (right) and Jeff (left).
Below is the reason behind us switching teams. At the end of last season, we found out that Brodie's (left) dad would be coaching in the fall. Brodie has been in Jack's preschool class for 3 years now. Blake is Brodie's brother. Some of us decided it would be fun for the boys from class to play together, so we all requested Jeff as their coach. After Brodie, there is Jesse (been in class with Jack since they were babies), Jack C. (same class for 3 years) and Jack T. I am thrilled with our team this year! It's a lot of fun to sit on the sidelines with some of the preschool parents and watch the boys play together on the field. Jeff and Blake are so good with the boys and they are really learning a lot.Bubba's biggest fan, who would yell "Go, Bubba, go!" when he was sitting still long enough to realize there was a game going on.
I do not know soccer terminology, so here's my best at describing the picture below. The other team had just scored and we were kicking off at mid-field. As you can see, Jack was kicking off. Travis has always told Jack to kick hard and good things will happen. Well, he kicked hard, it went past the other team and right into our goal! What a way to score, but who cares! The look on his face in the next picture says it all!
I only wish I had a picture of Jack and Travis running to each other with the same big smile on each face giving high fives.
Jack, #8 this season, going to Coach Jeff for a high five.
He was a different player the rest of the game. He even took the ball away from the other team and assisted Jesse in a goal.
The other team was great and most likely won, but at the end of the game Coach Jeff asked the kids "Did y'all have fun?" They all responded "Yeah!" and he said "Well, if y'all had fun then we won!" Jack ran off the field saying "We won! We beat those minnows!" It's going to be another fun season!
