Dani and Nelson wanted to take us boating one day during our trip and it finally worked out for us to go on Thursday. It's not uncommon for them to have dolphins jumping alongside their boat and that's what we were hoping for. Unfortunately, this is when we starting seeing the effects of Tropical Storm Lee, so it was too rough to go out into the Gulf. Maybe next time. It was still a great day. Check out the nasty storm on the horizon.
We watched the Coast Guard train and saw some ships dock at the Port of Pensacola.
Marshall fell asleep for part of the ride. Poor thing was so stiff in his life vest.
Dani told Jack all about Sand Mountain where she takes her grandkids to play. He had to go. We couldn't pull the boat very close because it was so shallow, so we had to get out and walk through the water. It was just a few feet deep, so even Jack could easily touch. No big deal until we saw the biggest jelly fish of our lives. Jack and Dani were already halfway through the water and I was not about to let my boy go without me, so Travis and I loaded Marshall onto a raft and walked him to the side as well. We saw 5 larger than life jelly fish in total. Thank goodness none got too close!
The naked kayakers - when we got back to their house, we stripped the boys down to wash the sand off of them. Dani told them they could either towel dry or run naked through her yard to dry off. Guess which option they picked?
Jack was as excited about kayaking as he was the boat ride, so shortly after lunch they took a ride through the canal. How awesome would it be to just paddle over to your neighbors' houses?
We didn't let poor Marshall on the kayak. Maybe next year, little guy.
