Weekend in Martin

Every time we go to Martin Jack's Papa D has big plans for him. This weekend it was visiting a hunting store to see all the stuffed wildlife and visiting the John Deere store to see all the tractors. I added shoe shopping to the agenda and Jack, his daddy and his Papa D had a men's morning out. I'm having to tell most of this from Travis's perspective since I wasn't there myself, but Jack is talking enough these days to tell his side of the story as well. Jack was amazed at Final Flight and actually ran into Patrick, Brandi and Elizabeth Lemons. When I asked Jack if he gave Elizabeth a big hug he said "No, I shy." Thank goodness he came out of it for her party on Sunday. Jack came home from this store with a toy gun that he's since told me he's going to use to shoot animals. When asked what kind he says "A mattoon (raccoon). A deer. A bear."
The shoe shopping took place at two stores and luckily, he found what he was looking for at the second one. Papa D bought Jack a new pair of Merrills that he has hardly taken off his feet since Saturday.
I think if you go back to the blog posts from September 2008, you'll find pictures of Jack and Papa D riding Papa D's big tractor. That's been a part of the plan for every visit to Martin, but Jack hasn't always cooperated. The older he's gotten, the more scared he is of getting up on that tractor, which has truly disappointed his grandfather. Last week Papa D told him he was going to take him to a tractor store and that's all Jack talked about. If you asked what he was going to do that weekend he would tell you go to a tractor store with Daddy and Papa D. He also added "No ride tractor. Just look at tractor." For whatever reason, he is amazed by them, but has no desire to even sit on one. Here are a couple of pictures from the John Deere store. You'll notice Jack had no problem on the small ones, but Travis said he refused to even sit on the larger ones. I guess it's a phase.
